New European "skill-matching" platform

30 November 2017

During the past two years, a project team of mathematicians, software developers, project managers, and marketing specialists has developed OPENSKIMR, an innovative career route planner.

With a complex algorithm that was specially developed for OPENSKIMR, the platform uses the personal data of its users to "match" them with individualized career options, as well as propose them suitable career paths and further training opportunities. With OPENSKIMR, career development opportunities will be improved, tackling the problem of unemployment.

Professor Peter Mirski, Head of the Department for Management, Communication, & IT at MCI, launched the matchmaker at the end of 2015 – in cooperation with the mobile telephone company Telefónica and the Innsbruck-based international consulting firm PDAgroup as well as its European project partners DIGITALEUROPE and European Schoolnet.

Openskimr is built on the latest version of the European classification system ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations) to provide international compatibility.

Within 6 weeks, 10,000 test users have signed up for this open skill matchmaker. Development of the prototype is set to continue in 2018, and interested companies or organisations are welcome to apply for a partnership.
